A MOTIVATION FOR BS ECE STUDENTS

Engineering courses are difficult and to be able to successfully pursue this kind of courses, one should motivate himself to study hard and to dream about with his/her future. As my professor said, many Engineering students were just forced by their parents, maybe because of the stereo-typing of their parents towards Engineers. Can I ask the parents out there? Do you want to suffer your child just because of your egocentric dream? Do you ask your child what he/she really wants? Maybe he/she likes to bake? to be an athlete? or to be an artist?

For Engineering students who really choose this course, I salute to you for your right choice of career. Electronics and Communication Engineers are barely needed, not just today but in the coming years also. They are so versatile in terms of their skills just like in electronics, electricity and also in software creation. Other than that, here are some of motivations I would like to share with you.

CRESCENT AND A STAR

There will be a planetary occultation by the Moon this coming May 16, 2010. This will be the Venus occultation by the thin crescent Moon. An occultation refers to the passage of a celestial body across a line between an observer and another celestial object. This event will be visible in the Philippines but is more favorable to Luzon observers because they will be able to observe the disappearance (ingress) and reappearance (egress) whereas those in the Visayas and Mindanao areas such as Cebu and Davao City will only be able to observe the disappearance (Ingress) event only. This event is best observed by selecting an observing site that has a clear western horizon particularly WNW area. In Manila, one of the best sites to observe this event will be in Manila Bay area such as in Luneta or in SM MOA San Miguel by the Bay area.

In light with this, the Astronomical League of the Philippines (ALP) will be setting up 2 main observing sites to observe this beautiful event. The first observing site will be setup at Astrocamp Observatory in SM MOA San Miguel by the Bay and will be led by ALP PRO Armando Lee while the second observing site will be set up in Nasugbu, Batangas to get a better chance to observe and document this event carefully and accurately. ALP will be observing , imaging and get accurate timings of the disappearance and reappearance of the planet Venus behind the thin crescent Moon.

Crescent and a star can be translated positively or negatively, but for me I guess it is a good sign for the government of Philippines. It seems God is smiling. I think this is the message from our parish priest that today we should spread the love and miracle of God.

1. POKER FACE
           It's not Lady Gaga nor her song. We should show right gestures to impress the saleslady or the owner of the shop. Start by looking in their items, don't worry to take a look at the items, remember your a customer and they need you.
2. HALF THE PRICE
          Ask how much is the item, then start dealing them. You should start from its half price, if it's not okay with them, ask her the last price. With this method the percentage of the saleslady to offer her price at low cost will be increase.Trust me.
3. REVERSE SALES TALKING
          If the saleslady is not yet convinced, you should start to sales talk with her, Make her understand the advantages when she agrees on the price like the idea of having an income when you buy the product or just tell that you promise to buy shoes only to their tiangge. Be a salesman to a salesman.That's the key!
4. CHAT
          Ask everything about the shop or about the saleslady, you may never know, maybe you're a close relative or close related to the saleslady. Ask her about her  province, her private life if you have the guts and let your charisma do the rest.
5. PLEAD TO THE BOSS
          Most of the owner or the boss is inside the tiangge, You should ask politely with some charismatic gesture to make it easy to decide.
6. GOODBYE EFFECT
          If it's not still effective, make a dramatic scene of disappointment while leaving. This may mercy the owner and their income also and with a just few steps, they will agree on your price! Congratulations!

It is also preferred by men with large forehead(noo).It uses scissors rather than shave to have  uneven look that makes it unique among other styles.
